Albumin, CSF
Also known as: ALB CSF
Use
This test aids in the evaluation of the integrity of the blood-brain barrier. It is used to measure the concentration of albumin in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and can provide important diagnostic insights into neurological conditions.
Special Instructions
Centrifuge and separate to remove cellular material. Transfer 1 mL CSF to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. Minimum volume required is 0.5 mL.
Limitations
Grossly bloody, contaminated, or hemolyzed specimens are unacceptable. Specimens must be refrigerated upon storage, and repeated freeze/thaw cycles should be avoided to ensure the integrity of the test results.
