Allergen, Grass, Johnson Grass
Also known as: JOHN
Use
This test is used to determine the presence of allergen-specific IgE antibodies to Johnson Grass pollen. Allergy to grasses like Johnson Grass may cause hay fever symptoms or asthma. The test measures the concentration of specific IgE antibodies which helps in the assessment of allergy risk, thereby aiding in the diagnosis and management of allergic diseases.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided for accurate assessment. The assay is performed using the ImmunoCAP Fluorescent Enzyme Immunoassay method and frequently among allergists to aid clinical management.
Limitations
Results ranging from 0.10-0.34 kU/L are of undetermined clinical relevance and are intended for specialist interpretation. The concentration of allergen-specific IgE detected does not necessarily correlate with the severity of allergic reactions or skin tests. Comprehensive clinical correlation with patient history and in vivo testing is recommended. Negative test results do not exclude the possibility of an allergy or anaphylaxis to Johnson Grass.
