Allergens, Additional Molds Profile IgE
Also known as: MOLD PRO
Use
The test is used to measure the concentration of allergen-specific IgE antibodies for additional molds. It aids in identifying potential allergic reactions to specific mold allergens, although these concentrations may not always correlate with clinical symptoms or in vivo testing.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters and specimen tubes should be avoided to prevent variability in results. It is crucial to correlate laboratory results with clinical history and in vivo reactivity. A negative test does not rule out clinical allergy.
Limitations
Allergen results between 0.10-0.34 kU/L are used by specialists due to undetermined clinical relevance. The concentration of allergen-specific IgE might not correlate with the intensity of clinical reactions or results from in vivo allergenic challenges. The presence of IgE does not rule out the possibility of anaphylaxis.
