Allergens, Inhalants, Midwest Comprehensive 1
Also known as: MIDWEST
Use
The Allergens, Inhalants, Midwest Comprehensive 1 test is used for detecting allergen-specific IgE antibodies in patients. It measures the presence of IgE antibodies against a variety of common environmental allergens, including molds, animal dander, trees, grasses, and weeds, particularly those prevalent in the Midwest region. This test is useful for diagnosing allergic reactions and guiding allergen avoidance and treatment strategies.
Special Instructions
Patients should avoid multiple patient encounters for accurate results. Ensure adequate volume for allergen testing and follow specific collection instructions for optimal results. Contact the laboratory for any questions regarding the coordination of sample collection.
Limitations
The test results of 0.10-0.34 kU/L, although may indicate presence of allergen-specific IgE, are not necessarily clinically relevant on their own and should be interpreted by specialists in the context of clinical history and possible skin testing. The presence of IgE does not directly correlate to clinical allergy symptoms or reactions in vivo, and a negative test does not completely rule out the possibility of clinical allergy or anaphylaxis.
