Allergens, Inhalants, Southeast Panel IgE
Also known as: SE INH PAN
Use
The Allergens, Inhalants, Southeast Panel IgE test is used to evaluate patients for allergic reactions to a variety of common inhalant allergens typically found in the southeastern region. It measures the amount of allergen-specific IgE in the blood to assess susceptibility to allergic reactions potentially leading to symptoms such as rhinitis, asthma, or eczema. This test aids clinicians in diagnosing inhalant allergies and in developing tailored management plans.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided. Collect serum in a Serum Separator Tube (SST) and separate from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer the serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube (minimum volume required).
Limitations
The test results should be correlated with clinical history and in vivo reactivity to specific allergens since concentrations of allergen-specific IgE may not always correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin testing results. A negative test result does not rule out clinical allergy or even anaphylaxis. Allergen results in the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L are intended for specialist use as the clinical relevance is undetermined.
