Use
This test is used to detect ATRX protein expression in tissue samples, helping in the classification and understanding of various tumors, notably in brain tumors. ATRX mutations or deletions are associated with certain cancers and can give insights into the tumor's behavior and potential treatment strategies.

Limitations
The test's performance characteristics have been determined by ARUP Laboratories, but it has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. Results should be interpreted in the context of clinical and other diagnostic findings.

Collection Instructions
Formalin fix (10 percent neutral buffered formalin) and paraffin embed specimen. Do not oven bake if sending precut slides.
Storage Instructions
Room temperature is preferred; refrigerate if necessary. Ship in a cooled container during summer months.
Causes for Rejection
Specimens with non-representative tissue type or depleted specimens.
