Autism and Intellectual Disability Metabolic Panel
Also known as: AID PAN
Use
The Autism and Intellectual Disability Metabolic Panel is designed to evaluate individuals for autism-spectrum disorder and/or intellectual disability who have previously tested negative for FMR1 (fragile X) and cytogenomic SNP microarray testing. It assesses various metabolic markers to provide insights into potential metabolic abnormalities associated with autism and intellectual disability, supporting further genetic evaluation and testing decisions.
Special Instructions
Clinical information is required for appropriate interpretation, including age, gender, diet (e.g., TPN therapy), drug therapy, and family history. A Biochemical Genetics Patient History Form must be submitted with the order. It is available on the ARUP website or by contacting ARUP Client Services.
Limitations
The test is developed and its performance characteristics determined by ARUP Laboratories. It is intended for clinical purposes but has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. The panel does not exclude other rare metabolic disorders associated with autism and intellectual disability. Normal results do not rule out all metabolic disorders, and genetic evaluation is suggested for comprehensive assessment.
