Bilirubin, Total, Body Fluid
Also known as: TBILI-FL
Use
The Bilirubin, Total, Body Fluid test is used for quantifying the bilirubin concentration in various body fluids such as biliary/hepatic, drain, peritoneal/ascites, or pleural fluid. This test aids in the assessment of hepatobiliary function and can assist in diagnosing and monitoring conditions that affect the bilirubin metabolism or liver function. It is also useful in evaluating patients with jaundice and other related symptoms.
Special Instructions
The specimen must be protected from light during collection, storage, and shipment. Additionally, the specimen source must be provided when sending in the sample. For cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) specimens, refer to the alternative test Bilirubin, CSF ARUP test code 2005248.
