Carisoprodol Urine with Reflex to Quantitation
Also known as: CARIS RFXU
Use
This test is useful for general screening in contexts of compliance and/or abuse. It is the preferred method for ruling out exposure to carisoprodol and/or meprobamate. Reflex testing is triggered by a positive screening result to confirm and quantify the presence of carisoprodol and its metabolite, meprobamate.
Special Instructions
If the specimen screens positive, Confirmation/Quantitation by Mass Spectrometry (ARUP test code 2012219) will be added to confirm results. Additional charges apply.
Limitations
This test may not detect drug presence in cases of non-compliance, inappropriate timing of specimen collection, poor drug absorption, or diluted/adulterated urine. It is not valid for forensic use and the concentration required to detect a drug or metabolite varies within a drug class. Performance characteristics were determined by ARUP Laboratories, and the test is intended for clinical purposes.
