CD21 (Dendritic Cell) by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: CD21 IHC
Use
CD21 (Dendritic Cell) by Immunohistochemistry is used to evaluate the presence of dendritic cells in tissue samples. This test can help in the diagnosis and classification of certain types of lymphomas and other lymphoproliferative disorders where dendritic cell presence is a factor. Immunohistochemistry staining results can provide valuable insights into cell type, lineage, and immune profiling, which are critical in forming an accurate diagnosis.
Special Instructions
To order CD21 (Dendritic Cell) by IHC, submit an electronic request. If you lack electronic ordering capability, use the ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (#32978) with an ARUP client number. For any technical inquiries, please contact ARUP Client Services at (800) 522-2787. A tissue can be submitted as a formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded block or as unstained slides. Proper specimen preparation and transport protect tissue blocks or slides from excess heat and ensure reliable results.
Limitations
The immunohistochemistry staining process is performed as a stain and return service. It provides technical staining only, and interpretation must be carried out by a qualified pathologist. Improper specimen handling or depleted specimens can lead to compromised results. Additionally, non-representative tissue types submitted may result in rejections or conduct of further testing, which could delay diagnostic processes.
