CD23 by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: CD23 IHC
Use
CD23 immunohistochemical staining is utilized to detect CD23 antigen expression in tissue or cell samples (particularly formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded specimens). This stain is often applied in hematopathology for classification of low-grade B‑cell lymphomas, including differentiation of small lymphocytic lymphoma/chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CD23 positive) from mantle cell lymphoma (typically CD23 negative), as well as highlighting follicular dendritic cell networks.
Special Instructions
This test is a technical (stain-and-return) service only. Ordering is via electronic request or ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (#32978) if electronic ordering is not available. Specimens must be formalin fixed and paraffin embedded (or cellblock), and transported in ARUP tissue transport kit (#47808). Slides (min 2 unstained, positively charged, 3–5 micron), or tissue block, should be shipped at room temperature or refrigerated, in cooled containers in summer. Depleted or non‑representative specimens are unacceptable.
Limitations
Only technical staining is performed; no interpretive pathology is included (i.e., stain‑and‑return only). Slides should not be oven baked and age of cut sections may affect immunoreactivity. Frozen, non‑formalin fixed, or non‑paraffin embedded tissue is unacceptable. Non‑representative tissue or depleted samples are not acceptable.
