CD71 by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: CD71 IHC
Use
The CD71 by Immunohistochemistry test is used for the detection of CD71 expression in tissue samples. CD71, also known as the transferrin receptor, is a marker of proliferation as it is upregulated in dividing cells. The test aids in the assessment and characterization of various neoplasms where CD71 expression is observed, providing valuable information in the diagnosis and research of cancer.
Special Instructions
This test is performed as a stain and return (technical) service only. Specimens should be fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin and paraffin-embedded. The paraffin block or unstained slides must be protected from excessive heat during transport. ARUP supply #47808 is available for ordering through eSupply or by contacting ARUP Client Services.
Limitations
The CD71 by Immunohistochemistry test is not FDA cleared or approved and was developed and its performance characteristics were determined by ARUP Laboratories in a CLIA-certified laboratory. The results should be interpreted in the context of the entire clinical picture and other diagnostic findings. It is important to note that the specificity and sensitivity of the assay depend on the quality of tissue preparation and adherence to recommended protocols.
