Cocaine Metabolite, Urine, Quantitative
Also known as: CDCO COCA
Use
This test is used for obtaining quantitative results of cocaine metabolites in urine, specifically Benzoylecgonine, to follow up a presumptive result. It is not intended for general screening purposes. The test is useful for verifying suspected drug use and monitoring treatment compliance in clinical settings.
Special Instructions
The specimen should be a random urine sample collected without additives or preservatives. It is recommended to use a standard transport tube for submission. The test is approved by New York state, and it is crucial that specimens are not exposed to repeated freeze/thaw cycles to ensure accurate results.
Limitations
This test is intended for medical purposes only and is not valid for forensic use. A result will be reported as positive only if the concentration value meets or exceeds the 50 ng/mL cutoff. The test has been developed and characterized by ARUP Laboratories but has not been cleared or approved by the FDA. The performance can be affected by improper specimen handling, specifically exposure to freeze/thaw cycles.
