Consultation, Hematopathology
Also known as: HP CONSULT
Use
The Consultation, Hematopathology test provides specialized diagnostic consultation services for the evaluation of hematological conditions. A detailed examination of the submitted tissue is performed to assist in diagnosing diseases affecting blood and bone marrow. Pathologists may use various stains and ancillary tests to reach a definitive diagnosis, providing crucial information for patient management and treatment planning.
Special Instructions
Submit specimens with an electronic request form. If electronic ordering is unavailable, use the ARUP Anatomic Pathology Form with an ARUP client number. Appropriate stains and ancillary tests may be charged separately and are ordered at the discretion of ARUP pathologists. All submitted detailed case material including stained slides and surgical pathology reports should be transported using ARUP's consultation transport kit.
Limitations
This test is dependent on the quality and representativeness of the specimen provided. Non-representative or depleted specimens may be rejected. Tissue not fixed in formalin or processed inadequately may affect the interpretation of the results. Not all requested ancillary tests might be performed if deemed unnecessary by the pathologist. Interpretation can vary based on the completeness and detail of clinical information provided.
