Creatine, Urine
Also known as: CRTN URINE
Use
The Creatine, Urine test is used to monitor patients receiving creatine supplementation and may be useful when evaluating for possible creatine transporter deficiency. However, for inherited disorders of creatine metabolism or transport, other tests like the Creatine Disorders Panel are recommended.
Special Instructions
To evaluate disorders, it is advised to use the Creatine Disorders Panel in Plasma, Serum, or Urine. The test is performed at a CLIA certified laboratory and intended for clinical purposes but has not been cleared or approved by the FDA.
Limitations
This test captures random or timed urine specimens other than 24 hours, representing the total milligrams of creatine excreted during the collection period. The methodology applied and the reference ranges provided are tailored to random urine collections in mmol/mol creatinine. It’s a Laboratory Developed Test (LDT).
