Drug Profile, Expanded Targeted Panel by LC-MS/MS, Serum/Plasma
Also known as: COMPDRUGSP
Use
This test is used to detect drug exposure from a targeted list of prescription, over-the-counter medications, and illicit drugs. It is important for medical purposes although it is not valid for forensic use. The absence of expected drugs or metabolites may indicate noncompliance, inappropriate timing of specimen collection relative to drug administration, poor drug absorption, or limitations of testing. This assay detects 127 drugs and drug metabolites by LC-MS/MS, and results are used to guide clinical interpretations regarding drug exposure.
Special Instructions
This assay is developed by ARUP Laboratories, intended for clinical purposes only in a CLIA-certified laboratory. It must not be used for determining medication compliance or assessing undisclosed drug/substance use in pain management or substance use disorder treatment contexts. The test's performance has not been cleared or approved by the FDA, but it is approved by the New York Department of Health. Reference intervals are available by report, and the test reports specific drugs detected if a drug class is reported as present.
Limitations
This qualitative drug panel is not recommended for determining medication compliance or assessing undisclosed drug/substance use in the context of pain management, substance use disorder treatment, or other pharmacotherapies involving controlled substances. It has limitations due to potential noncompliance, inappropriate timing of specimen collection, poor drug absorption, or inherent testing limitations. The concentration of drugs/metabolites varies within classes and must meet the cutoff for a positive report. Interpretative inquiries should be directed to the laboratory.
