Use
This test is used to detect Epstein‑Barr virus in formalin‑fixed, paraffin‑embedded tissue using in situ hybridization (ISH). It is intended solely for detection and does not include interpretation.
Special Instructions
Submit as electronic request. Use ARUP tissue transport kit (#47808); specimens must be protected from excessive heat. If sending precut slides, do not oven bake. Slides or block shipped at room temperature (refrigerated acceptable); ship cooled in summer.
Limitations
Specimens with non-representative tissue type or depleted specimens are unacceptable. Frozen specimens are unacceptable. Interpretation is not included.

Formalin fix (10 percent neutral buffered formalin) and paraffin‑embed specimen; cells must be prepared into a cellblock; transport tissue block or 6 unstained (3‑ to 5‑micron thick) positively charged slides using ARUP tissue transport kit #47808.
Storage Instructions
Room temperature; refrigerated acceptable; ship in cooled container during summer months.
