Fructosamine
Also known as: FRUCTOSAM
Use
Fructosamine test may aid in monitoring glucose control for patients with specific disorders, especially where hemoglobin A1c is not recommended. It measures glycated serum protein to determine average glucose levels in the blood over a span of two to three weeks, which is a shorter period compared to hemoglobin A1c.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
Elevations or variations in levels of serum proteins, specifically albumin and immunoglobulins, may affect fructosamine test results. Additionally, the presence of hemolyzed specimens can cause falsely elevated fructosamine levels, which should be avoided during processing.
