Fructose, Semen
Also known as: FRUCTOSE
Use
The Fructose, Semen test is useful for screening for obstruction or absence of the seminal vesicles in males with azoospermia. Seminal fructose is produced mainly by the seminal vesicles, and its presence or absence can provide valuable diagnostic information about underlying reproductive tract obstructions or the functional state of the seminal vesicles.
Special Instructions
Specimen should be frozen within 2 hours of collection. Separate specimens must be submitted if multiple tests are ordered. Critical frozen transport is necessary to preserve the specimen's integrity.
Limitations
The test may not be suitable if the specimen is not frozen within the specified timeframe or if not kept critically frozen during transport. Incorrect handling may lead to inaccuracies in fructose level measurement. Ambient and refrigerated conditions are unacceptable and may result in specimen rejection.
