Insulin-Like Growth Factor Binding Protein 2 (IGFBP-2)
Also known as: IGFBP-2
Use
The Insulin-Like Growth Factor Binding Protein 2 (IGFBP-2) test is used to assist in the evaluation of conditions related to altered IGF levels, including growth abnormalities, metabolic disorders, and conditions associated with IGF dysregulation. The measurement of IGFBP-2 can provide information on the binding capacity and regulation of IGF, which is important in the modulation of IGF activity in various physiological processes.
Special Instructions
Fasting specimen is preferred for accurate measurement of IGFBP-2 levels. The test is not performed at ARUP Laboratories; therefore, separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered. Test conducted by Quest Diagnostics Nichols Institute.
Limitations
The IGFBP-2 test has not been cleared or approved by the FDA. It is important to consider the test's analytical performance characteristics, which have been validated for clinical use according to CLIA regulations. The test results should be interpreted in conjunction with other clinical findings and supporting laboratory tests for a comprehensive assessment of IGF-related conditions.
