This test is primarily used for research and to support attempts to understand the pathogenesis of immune, infectious, allergic, or inflammatory disorders. Results are intended to contribute to the understanding of the pathophysiology of these disorders and may aid in research applications.
Special Instructions
Cytokine levels may demonstrate diurnal variation. For longitudinal comparison, it is recommended that cytokine levels be determined at the same time of day.
Limitations
This test has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration and is intended for clinical purposes only. Refrigerated specimens, contaminated or heat-inactivated specimens are unacceptable. Cytokine levels can vary based on time of day when collected, potentially affecting results.
