Kappa Lambda Dual Stain by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: KLDual IHC
Use
This test is used for the detection and differentiation of kappa and lambda light chains in tissue samples. These light chains are part of the immunoglobulins produced by B-cell lineages and their differential expression can indicate various hematologic conditions, such as B-cell lymphomas, plasma cell neoplasms, and related disorders. The staining helps pathologists in diagnosing and differentiating these conditions, providing critical information for appropriate treatment planning.
Special Instructions
Submit electronic request. If you do not have electronic ordering capability, use an ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (#32978) with an ARUP client number. The test is a stain and return (technical) service only. Transport tissue block or minimum 2 slides using ARUP's Tissue Transport Kit.
Limitations
This test has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. It is performed in a CLIA certified laboratory for clinical purposes. The test may not provide the necessary specificity or sensitivity in some cases due to potential cross-reactivity or suboptimal staining of some tissue types. False negatives may occur in poorly fixed tissue or if tissue samples are not representative of the lesion being investigated.
