Kratom (Mitragynine) - Screen With Reflex to Confirmation, Urine
Also known as: KRATOM U
Use
This test is utilized to detect the presence of the kratom alkaloid mitragynine in urine. Mitragynine is a mood-altering opioid receptor agonist with both stimulant and opioid effects. The detection of this compound is important for understanding its potential impact on mood and physiological processes. The test can help in clinical decision-making regarding substance use and its effects.
Special Instructions
If the initial screen is positive, a confirmation test will automatically be added, which may incur additional charges. Testing is performed by subcontractor MedTox Laboratories. Specific procedures such as separate specimens are required if multiple tests are ordered.
Limitations
The test is not approved for use in New York State. Specimens must be collected according to specific handling instructions, as inappropriate collection can lead to rejection. Urine from a preservative tube is not acceptable, and performance may vary based on storage and handling conditions.
