Neutrophil-Associated Antibodies
Also known as: ANTI-NEU
Use
Support the diagnosis of immune neutropenia in various autoimmune disorders including Felty syndrome, SLE, and drug-induced neutropenia. May also help diagnose febrile transfusion reactions and isoimmune neonatal neutropenia caused by antibodies to neutrophil-specific antigens or HLA antigens.
Special Instructions
Remove serum from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube and freeze immediately, submitting separate specimens if multiple tests are ordered.
Limitations
A positive result is not definitive for specific anti-neutrophil antibodies since anti-HLA antibodies and immune complexes may also cause a positive result. Test results should be correlated to clinical history and other data for accurate diagnosis.
