Octamer Transcription Factor-2 (Oct 2) by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: OCT2 IHC
Use
Immunohistochemical detection of Octamer Transcription Factor‑2 (Oct‑2) is used as a technical stain to aid in diagnostic evaluation, particularly in distinguishing types of lymphoma such as classical Hodgkin lymphoma versus nodular lymphocyte‑predominant Hodgkin lymphoma. This test is performed as a stain‑and‑return (technical) service only and requires subsequent pathology consultation for full diagnostic interpretation.
Special Instructions
Submit electronic request or use ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (#32978) if electronic ordering is unavailable. Refer to ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Offerings brochure. Technical service only (stain and return).
Limitations
Interpretation by a pathologist is not included. Specimen quality is critical: non‑representative or depleted tissue is unacceptable. Paraffin sections should not be oven baked. Controls must show appropriate immunoreactivity. Technical performance only; requires appropriate clinical context and other diagnostic data for interpretation.
