Orthopedic Metals Panel (Chromium, Cobalt, Titanium), Body Fluid
Also known as: ORTHO PAN
Use
This test is used to monitor and evaluate for local metal ion release from metal-on-metal joint arthroplasty, especially when multiple metal implants are investigated. It is not intended for assessing toxicity levels in the body.
Special Instructions
Specimens for elemental testing should be collected in certified metal-free containers to avoid environmental contamination. Testing performed at NMS Labs, Inc.
Limitations
The test should not be used to assess overall toxicity. Elevated results may arise from environmental contamination at the time of collection. Verification with subsequent specimens in trace metal free containers is recommended in such cases.
