Pharmacogenetics Panel: Psychotropics
Also known as: PGX PSYCH
Use
This test is used to assess genetic risk of abnormal drug metabolism for drugs metabolized by various genes such as ANKK1, COMT, CYP2B6, CYP2C19, CYP2C9, CYP2D6, CYP3A4, CYP3A5, DRD2, GRIK4, HTR2A, HTR2C, MTHFR, OPRM1, and UGT2B15. It may aid in drug selection and dose planning for many drugs, including those relevant to psychiatry such as psychostimulants, antidepressants, antipsychotics, and anxiolytics.
Special Instructions
Counseling and informed consent are recommended for genetic testing. Consent forms are available online. Informed consent for genetic testing is required for New York patients.
Limitations
Only the targeted variants will be detected by this panel, and assumptions about phase and content are made to assign alleles. The test does not detect non-genetic factors that may influence drug response. Diagnostic errors can occur due to rare sequence variations. A combination of the CYP2D6*5 (gene deletion) and a CYP2D6 gene duplication cannot be specifically identified.
