Use
The Phencyclidine (PCP), Urine, Quantitative test is used for the quantitative measurement of phencyclidine in urine. It is typically ordered to confirm presumptive positive screening results and to monitor PCP use in patients. This test is for medical purposes and is not valid for forensic use.
Special Instructions
For general screening purposes, the Phencyclidine, Urine Screen with Reflex to Quantitation (2012265) is preferred. This test is developed and performance characteristics are determined by ARUP Laboratories but it has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. It is performed in a CLIA-certified laboratory and intended for clinical purposes.
Limitations
The test is not valid for forensic use. The concentration value must be greater than or equal to the cutoff of 10 ng/mL to be reported as positive. Interpretive questions should be directed to the laboratory.
