Use
This test applies immunohistochemical staining to detect S‑100 protein in tissue or cell specimens, aiding in diagnostic evaluation through identification of cells expressing this protein. It is intended for clinical purposes and performed in a CLIA‑certified laboratory. Developed in‑house by ARUP Laboratories, it has not received FDA clearance or approval but is used as a Laboratory Developed Test (LDT).
Special Instructions
Test is performed as a stain‑and‑return (technical) service only. Ordering requires an electronic request or use of ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (#32978) with an ARUP client number. Refer to ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Offerings brochure for ordering guidance.
Limitations
This immunohistochemistry assay has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. It is intended solely for clinical purposes and performance characteristics were determined by ARUP Laboratories. Limitations may include specimen quality and representativeness; depleted or non‑representative tissue specimens are unacceptable.
