S100B, CSF
Also known as: S100B CSF
Use
The S100B, CSF test is used as a biomarker for various central nervous system (CNS) pathologies. S100B is a protein with established associations with traumatic brain injury, neurodegenerative diseases, and some psychiatric disorders. Its presence and levels in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) may assist clinicians in diagnosing and monitoring such conditions.
Special Instructions
This test is New York state approved. Transport the specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.
Limitations
This assay is specific to the S100B protein detected using the CanAg S100 Enzyme Immunoassay. Results obtained from this test cannot be compared directly with results derived from other assay methods or kits due to potential methodological differences. The test has been developed and its performance characteristics determined by ARUP Laboratories but has not been cleared or approved by the FDA.
