Special histochemical stain designed to detect mucosubstances in tissue sections. Following hyaluronidase digestion, areas containing hyaluronic acid, hyaluronosulphate or chondroitin sulfates A and C remain unstained, while all other mucosubstances strongly stain blue. Useful in distinguishing acid mucopolysaccharide components within histopathologic specimens. The test was inactivated as of August 19, 2024.
