Special Stain, Elastin
Also known as: ELASTIN SS
Use
This test provides histochemical visualization of elastic fibers within tissue specimens using a specialized elastic stain (Elastin Stain), enabling assessment of tissue architecture relevant to diagnostic histopathology.
Special Instructions
Refer to the listing of histochemical stains for ordering. Anatomic Pathology Test Request Form (#32960) is recommended if electronic ordering is unavailable. This is a stain-and-return technical service only.
Limitations
Not applicable to specimens that are non-representative or depleted. Frozen specimens are unacceptable. Excessive heat exposure is detrimental. Slides or blocks must be formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded.
