TCL1 by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: TCL1 IHC
Use
The TCL1 by Immunohistochemistry test is used in pathology to detect the expression of TCL1A protein in tissue specimens. TCL1A, also known as T-cell leukemia/lymphoma 1A, is associated with certain types of leukemia and lymphoma. The test aids in diagnosing malignancies characterized by the presence of TCL1A, providing valuable information for treatment planning and prognosis. It is performed as a stain and return service, focusing on the technical aspects of the immunohistochemistry process.
Special Instructions
This test is performed as a technical (stain and return) service only. The immunohistochemistry stain is a specialized method requiring formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections. Ensure tissue blocks are protected from excessive heat during transport. Use ARUP supply #47808 for tissue transport when needed, available through ARUP Connect or Client Services.
Limitations
The test is limited to detecting TCL1A protein expression in tissue samples. Results depend on the quality and preparation of the specimen, including factors such as fixation and embedding. Non-representative tissue types and specimen depletion can lead to invalid results. This test does not provide quantitative measures of TCL1A and cannot discern other molecular alterations beyond protein expression.
