Thrombomodulin by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: THROM IHC
Use
Thrombomodulin by Immunohistochemistry is used primarily in research and diagnostic settings to assess the presence and distribution of thrombomodulin in tissue samples. This test can provide valuable insights into endothelial cell function and is often used in the study of conditions that affect the vascular system. Immunohistochemistry allows for the visualization of specific protein expression patterns in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue specimens, providing essential information for pathologists in tissue characterization and disease diagnosis.
Special Instructions
Specimens need to be formalin fixed and paraffin embedded. Slides must be unstained and 4-micron thick. Do not oven bake if sending precut slides. Use ARUP tissue transport kit for shipping. Separate specimens are required if multiple tests are ordered as the test is not performed at ARUP.
Limitations
This test does not provide interpretation of staining results, which must be conducted by a qualified professional. Specimens must not be submitted with nonrepresentative tissue types and depleted specimens will be rejected. The test is also not suitable for frozen specimens as they are unacceptable for analysis.
