Tickborne Disease Antibodies Panel
Also known as: TICK PAN
Use
The Tickborne Disease Antibodies Panel is designed to detect serum antibodies for common tickborne infections such as Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, ehrlichiosis, and babesiosis. This panel is crucial for diagnosing these conditions, which can have significant health impacts if not identified and treated promptly. The test employs both serological methods to determine the presence of specific IgG antibodies, which can confirm past or recent infections with these pathogens.
Special Instructions
If VlsE1/pepC10 antibodies by ELISA is 0.91 IV or greater, then additional IgG and IgM testing is performed by Immunoblot, incurring additional charges. It's important to use the standard procedures to handle and transport serum specimens to ensure accurate results.
Limitations
This test might not detect IgG antibodies in early stages of infection or in immunocompromised individuals. False positives may occur, and cross-reactivity with antibodies to other bacteria could potentially influence results. It is recommended to corroborate results with clinical findings and patient history. A negative result does not exclude the possibility of infection, and further testing may be necessary.
