Tricyclic Antidepressants, Quantitative, Urine
Also known as: TADQNT U
Use
This test is used for the quantitative measurement of tricyclic antidepressants in urine. It is the preferred test to follow up a presumptive result or monitor patient compliance. It is important for optimizing dosing but does not correlate with signs or symptoms of therapy or toxicity. Therapeutic ranges for urine concentrations of tricyclic antidepressants are not established.
Special Instructions
Preferred test for monitoring compliance after a presumptive result. For optimizing dosing, the Tricyclic Antidepressants, Quantitative, Serum or Plasma test is preferred. Note that component test codes cannot be used to order tests.
Limitations
The test is developed and its performance characteristics are determined by ARUP Laboratories. It has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. Urine concentrations do not correlate with therapeutic efficacy or toxicity symptoms. The test has laboratory-developed status and is conducted in a CLIA-certified laboratory.
