Use
This test is used for the nutritional assessment of vitamin K1 levels in the body. Vitamin K1 is an essential vitamin that plays a crucial role in the activation of certain proteins required for blood coagulation and bone metabolism. This test helps in diagnosing vitamin K1 deficiency or toxicity, which can lead to bleeding disorders or other health issues related to improper blood clotting or bone health.
Special Instructions
Patient should fast overnight for 12 hours and should not consume alcohol for 24 hours prior to blood draw. Protect specimen from light during collection, storage, and shipment. Separate serum or plasma from cells within 1 hour of collection. This test is performed in a CLIA certified laboratory and developed by ARUP Laboratories, but it is not cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.
Limitations
This test has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. It is intended for clinical purposes and is performed in a CLIA certified laboratory. The test is limited to serum or EDTA plasma samples, and it cannot be conducted on hemolyzed specimens. The stability of the specimen is limited to 6 months when frozen and 1 month when refrigerated after separation from cells.
