Wr(a) Antigen Typing, Patient
Also known as: WRA AG
Use
The Wr(a) antigen typing test is intended to determine if the Wr(a) (DI3) antigen is expressed on the patient's red blood cells. This test is significant for individuals who require precise blood matching for transfusions, as the presence or absence of specific antigens can affect compatibility.
Special Instructions
This test is New York state approved. It requires whole blood collection in Lavender (K2EDTA) or Pink (K2EDTA) tubes. Do not freeze the specimen; it should be transported refrigerated.
Limitations
The test may not perform accurately if the sample is not handled according to specified conditions, such as if separator tubes are used, if the sample is frozen, or not refrigerated within the recommended stability period.
