Zolpidem, Urine, Quantitative
Also known as: ZOLPID UR
Use
This test is used to obtain quantitative results for zolpidem in urine. It can be employed to follow up a presumptive result. For general screening purposes, the Zolpidem Urine with Reflex to Quantitation (2012300) is recommended. The presence of zolpidem at detectable levels above a threshold indicates compliance with prescribed medication, while non-detection could suggest non-compliance, inappropriate timing of specimen collection relative to drug administration, or issues with drug absorption.
Special Instructions
The concentration value must be greater than or equal to the positive cutoff of 20 ng/mL to be reported as positive. It is important to direct any interpretive questions to the laboratory. The test is not valid for forensic use and is developed by ARUP Laboratories as a Laboratory Developed Test (LDT).
Limitations
The absence of expected drug in the urine sample may indicate non-compliance, inappropriate timing of specimen collection relative to drug administration, poor drug absorption, diluted/adulterated urine, or technical limitations of the testing procedure. Note that this test is not approved by the US Food and Drug Administration and its performance characteristics have been determined by ARUP Laboratories.
