WES Reanalysis
Use
WES Reanalysis is a re-evaluation of Whole Exome Sequencing data performed at Baylor Genetics. This test is particularly indicated when previous analyses failed to yield a causative diagnosis related to a patient's clinical presentation. Reanalysis may be warranted under specific conditions, such as the emergence of new phenotype information or when a considerable period, typically over one year, has elapsed since the last evaluation. The goal is to reassess the sequencing data with the latest clinical insights, thereby increasing the likelihood of identifying a relevant genetic cause.
Special Instructions
The reanalysis is dependent on the availability of prior Whole Exome Sequencing data from Baylor Genetics, specifically from test codes 1400, 1500, 1600, 1603, 1722, 1723, or 1729. It is essential for referring clinicians to provide the most recent clinical information to aid in the re-evaluation process. All necessary documentation and consent should be submitted along with the request for reanalysis. For further assistance, please contact our support team.
Limitations
WES Reanalysis relies heavily on the quality of the previously obtained sequencing data. If the initial data was insufficient or the biological sample has degraded, the results may be limited. Moreover, as genetic research progresses, new variants and interpretations can emerge, which may not have been available during the first analysis. Therefore, reanalysis does not guarantee a diagnosis, and it is recommended that healthcare providers inform patients of these considerations prior to testing.
