MethylScan HCC
Use
MethylScan™ HCC analyzes DNA methylation patterns in cell-free DNA (cfDNA) circulating in the bloodstream, offering an assessment of liver health. It is specifically used to detect hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) at early stages in individuals at risk, which includes people with cirrhosis and chronic hepatitis B. The test adds sensitivity and specificity to traditional surveillance methods such as ultrasound and AFP, aiming to improve early detection of HCC.

Limitations
The MethylScan™ HCC test should complement, not replace, standard HCC surveillance methods which include semi-annual AFP blood tests and ultrasounds. However, the MethylScan has potential limitations in cases where methylation patterns in cfDNA may not reflect the presence or stage of HCC accurately, emphasizing the need for comprehensive patient assessment and follow-up.
