Autism/ID Xpanded® Panel
Use
The Autism/ID Xpanded® Panel is intended for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and/or intellectual disability, capturing and sequencing the whole exome but targeting analysis to a phenotype-driven gene list. This panel includes over 2,300 genes associated with ASD/ID, developed from sources including OMIM, HGMD, and HPO, with continual curation by GeneDx experts; it yields a high diagnostic return and may impact management and service eligibility.
Special Instructions
This test is typically performed as a trio when possible; analysis is targeted although whole exome sequencing is performed. The current gene list is continually updated on GeneDx’s website. Rare positive findings in genes outside the list may prompt issuance of an updated report.
Limitations
Although the whole exome is sequenced, analysis is restricted to the specified gene list; incidental findings in genes outside this list may be identified but are rare. Variants outside the curated list may not be analyzed unless they rise to reportable thresholds.
