Suggested Custom Slice – Autoimmune Disorders
Use
This is a customized exome-based test (“Slice”) designed for individuals suspected to have autoimmune disorders. It allows providers to specify a tailored list of genes associated with autoimmune phenotypes to focus analysis, enabling diagnosis when standard panels are lacking. Reporting is limited to the requested gene list; secondary findings outside that list are not reported.
Special Instructions
The gene list must be submitted via the GeneDx Custom Slice tool; it will be reviewed and approved by clinical staff within three business days, and the approval email with a tracking ID must accompany the specimen. Analysis is phenotype-driven and tailored to submitted genes. Only provided gene findings are reported.
Limitations
Because the test analyzes exome data but filters to a custom gene list, variants outside that list, including ACMG secondary findings, won’t be reported. Family member reports (e.g., parents) are not issued unless separately requested and undergoing additional billing. The analysis is limited to the approved gene list.
