Clinical Use

Use

This Custom Slice test allows providers to define a tailored gene list focused on hemolytic anemia. It leverages exome sequencing with analysis restricted to the provider‑specified genes, enabling targeted evaluation when a comprehensive panel is unavailable or when evaluation of a limited gene set is preferred. ACMG secondary findings are not reported unless those genes are in the custom list, and analysis is phenotype‑driven based on the provided gene list.

Special Instructions

Providers must submit a custom gene list through the GeneDx Slice Tool; the list is reviewed and approved within 3 business days, after which an approved Slice ID is issued and must accompany the sample. Reporting is limited to the selected genes only; no broader exome analysis or secondary findings outside the list are performed.

Limitations

Secondary findings per ACMG are not returned unless included in the custom gene list. The analytic pipeline will not identify or report variants outside of the selected genes. Family member samples are not included in analysis for this single‑gene or multi‑gene Slice — report is issued only for the proband; inclusion of parental or relative samples may require a different Slice version.
