Suggested Custom Slice – Lymphedema (81701)
Use
The Suggested Custom Slice – Lymphedema test employs a 'slice' approach where whole exome sequencing (ES) is performed, and analysis is restricted to a custom‐selected gene list pertinent to lymphedema. This is particularly useful when a narrow set of genes is clinically suspected and standard panels are unavailable. ACMG secondary findings are only reported if included in the custom list; no unsolicited incidental findings are reported unless requested.
Special Instructions
The ordering provider must submit the custom gene list via the GeneDx’s online Slice Tool, and approval—including covered percentage and a tracking ID—will be returned by email within 3 business days. The tracking ID must accompany the sample, and a custom slice requisition form should be used if ordering outside the portal. Family member samples may be included in trio or duo analysis for extended slice panels.
Limitations
Only the genes specified in the custom gene list are analyzed and reported; secondary findings outside this list are not reported. The analytic pipeline focuses strictly on the requested list, thus variants in other genes—regardless of clinical relevance—are excluded.
