Suggested Custom Slice Thrombocytopenia
Use
The Custom Slice tests are designed to capture exome data but restrict analysis to a provider-defined, phenotype‑driven gene list—this approach is optimal for situations with a clear oligogenic phenotype such as thrombocytopenia when no comprehensive panel exists; the analysis does not include ACMG secondary findings unless those genes are submitted in the custom list ([providers.genedx.com](https://providers.genedx.com/Resources/TIS-Files/TIS-TG70-706-J757.5.2024.pdf?utm_source=openai)).
Special Instructions
Providers must build and submit a custom gene list via the online Slice Tool prior to specimen submission; GeneDx clinical staff review the list within 3 business days, and upon approval an email is sent with coverage metrics and a tracking number required on the sample and requisition form ([providers.genedx.com](https://providers.genedx.com/Resources/TIS-Files/TIS-TG70-706-J757.5.2024.pdf?utm_source=openai)).
Limitations
Because the Slice analytic pipeline focuses solely on the requested gene list, it will not report secondary findings not included in that list; analysis and reporting are phenotype‑driven and may not include all variants detected, and relevant clinical records are required for accurate interpretation ([providers.genedx.com](https://providers.genedx.com/Resources/TIS-Files/TIS-TG70-706-J757.5.2024.pdf?utm_source=openai)).
