Acremonium kiliense
Use
The Acremonium kiliense test measures specific IgE antibodies to evaluate allergic sensitization to this mold. Acremonium species are opportunistic fungi that can cause infections in humans, particularly in immunocompromised patients. This test is valuable in identifying possible mold allergies and guiding treatment decisions such as allergen avoidance or immunotherapy.
Special Instructions
The test should be ordered with consideration of clinical symptoms and possible exposure to mold environments. It utilizes the Thermo Fisher ImmunoCAP® technology to detect specific IgE levels and requires accurate patient history to complement test results.
Limitations
This assay may not detect all allergenic components of Acremonium kiliense and should not be used as the sole diagnostic tool for allergy diagnosis. False positives can occur, and results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical findings. The sensitivity and specificity of the assay can vary, and environmental factors may affect allergen exposure.
