Aldosterone, LC/MS, Six Specimens
Use
This test is used to measure aldosterone levels in the blood. It is particularly useful for diagnosing conditions related to the adrenal glands, such as hyperaldosteronism, adrenal insufficiency, and other endocrine disorders. The six specimens collected over time help in assessing how aldosterone levels change with respect to treatment administered during the testing period.
Special Instructions
This panel requires multiple blood draws at different time points and typically involves administering medication or treatment between draws. It is crucial not to use this panel unless the patient is treated with a drug or another treatment after the first sample draw. Specific instructions on sample collection and handling can be found in the Endocrine Appendix of the LabCorp Directory of Services. Coordination with the clinician is necessary to determine the rationale for ordering the series.
Limitations
The test has not been cleared or approved by the FDA. The performance characteristics of this test were determined by LabCorp. Results might be affected by improper sample collection, handling, or delays in processing. Additional confirmatory tests may be required in some cases.
