Special Instructions
Urine specimens must be collected within one hour after consuming a large glass of water, with urinary pH measured and adjusted if necessary. Use a royal blue-top EDTA tube for whole blood and a plastic container for urine collection.
Limitations
Cadmium exposure can have delayed health effects; hence, single measurements may not reflect chronic exposure levels. Degraded β2-microglobulin in acidic urine samples may affect test accuracy. Clotted specimens will be rejected.
