Cell Count, Synovial Fluid Without Crystals
Use
Evaluate body fluid for the presence of RBCs and WBCs and for physical appearance
Special Instructions
Follow standard collection procedures for synovial fluid. Ensure that the fluid is collected in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube to maintain the sample's integrity. The specimen should be refrigerated and transported to the laboratory as soon as possible.
Limitations
The test may be affected by improper labeling, insufficient quantity of fluid, or if the specimen is frozen or older than 48 hours. The use of gel-barrier tubes may also lead to rejection of the specimen. It is essential that the specimen is handled and stored correctly to ensure accurate results.
